  I pitch up at this joint with chilling regularity - maybe it's just my own lack of imagination, though it could be the fact that they have no table charge, 500yen draft beer and - sweet Jesus! - about 5000 slabs of vintage vinyl behind the bar. The master, who I've known for ages but whose name I always forget, has a "no requests" policy that allows him to play whatever takes his fancy at the time - usually 60s and 70s rock, though he throws the odd curveball (BBC Radiophonic Workshop or Charles Manson's solo album, anyone?). Usually pretty busy on Saturdays. Reasonable food menu, English menus available, blah blah blah.
  
  Head down Nishiki-dori towards Fushimi - it's the first turning on the left after Sunshine Sakae, next to the Coco Ichiban curry house.
