I work as a systems administrator in a small software development company in central Tokyo. I've been here in Japan for a bit over five years, but because of my work I've been unable to go out often and make friends. Now that I have more time I'd like to make new friends in Tokyo. It doesn't matter if you're Japanese or not.
A couple of friends from Spain will come to Tokyo on holiday in August. I'm supposed to show them around and take them to interesting places. Any suggestions?

why look for a place and negotiate? i agree with benny: let's just be spontaneous. we just meet somewhere in the cold, and we choose on the spot.
what about next saturday (22)?

I find it completely insane that you are so oblivious to the real suffering and problems in the world that you think it's a good use of your time to start discusssion groups on web sites to complain about the japanese eating some fish.
Just listen to the words you are using. "Massacre"? Er, do you eat any meat at all? Why don't you start a group about the "massacre" of the cows? I almost find it offensive that you'd use a word like "massacre" to describe a bunch of fish getting killed. And "torture"? This hardly meets my definition of torture. Sure, you can support humane killing methods for animals .. but as already pointed out, the law has been changed to outlaw this practise anyway, so what's your point?
In a world where tens of millions of actual sentient humans die every year from malaria and AIDS, to get so lathered up over some decade-old video of fish getting cut up is totally ridiculous.
Anyway, that's my reaction, good luck meeting girls (the only conceivable reason any male ever starts this kind of thing) ...
