  • oki81 says: Engine bay destroyed
And finally for today, another 4G63 was destroyed at Battle of the Imports in Seattle, this time belonging to Jeff Bush, another guy with a damn quick car. Unfortunately, his oil dipstick popped out due to the pressure in the engine, sprayed oil over the engine bay, and as soon as it hit the manifold it set on fire. The pic tells a before and after story

And here is footage of his last successful run (8.66s at 165mph) before the car met its maker:

  • oki81 says: Bad weekend for some
I thought my weekend was bad, this guy's was probably on a par or even worse. It looks like it wasn't the weekend for any drivers of cars with the 4G63 engine in. Jake Montgomery (aka Evil Eagle) has a 1992 Talon and is one of the quickest AWD cars around. Anyway, he was taking part in the Seattle round of Battle of the Imports and... well, let me just quote from what he has been saying on forums:

"What a crazy weekend for us, I don't even know where to start! The weekend started out so god damn perfect with my 1st pass right off the trailer pulling the 8.66 @165mph pass out of my ass. Our next pass I upped the boost in 1st gear just a tad to get that .03 hundreds to snag the DSM gasoline record witch is 8.63. Came out of the hole strong and right at the top of 1st gear the slut decided it wanted to wheel hop, before I could lift the transfer case exploded.
So the next day we got a driveshaft and t-case from a couple of buddies of mine Brian and Johny, thanks guys!!

We busted tail and got the car put back together. 1st round of eliminations I got a bye run, so I just rolled it out so I wouldn't break the damn thing then I laid into it half way through 1st gear, car felt great all the way down till I went to shift to 4th gear, then all hell broke loose.

Because of what happened on this pass I am parking the car till I figure something out for this damn thing, My girlfriend, my mother, and my sister were all in tears from what happened. At 150+mph the t-case seized up completely ripping half of the transmission completely off, the t-case then flew under the car, smacked the drive shaft and bent it like a mofo, then tumbled out and punched a huge hole through the gas tank and threw sparks everywhere, the impact was so severe it lifted the rear of the car a tad. The vibration it caused was so bad I couldn't see. I smelt the fuel coming out of the car, I shut all the switches down, pulled the chute and slammed on the breaks to get the car stopped.
Got out and fuel was poring everywhere out of the fuel tank. At this point I was panicking like a bitch. Not knowing if the damn thing was going to go up in flames or not. The damn techs over there seemed to not even care there was fuel everywhere.

Anyway, the recap of this carnage is half the trans is gone, the t-case is completely gone, the rear driveshaft piece is bent like you wouldn't believe, and the fuel tank looks like someone rear ended it. Complete destruction, in the end of all of this seeing my girl friend, my sister and my mother all in tears from the stress and fear of my life has me decided to park the car till further decisions.
AWD at this power level is too god damn risky and dangerous, well in my case it has been, maybe not others, but my luck is not so great this year."

Too much of a fisheye effect and the angle wasn't great, but this is the new look. Will have much better shots over the weekend.
  • oki81 says: Ready for tuning
Got the car back on Monday and, after a minor hiccup with the oil feed line, am all ready for some tuning this coming weekend. Had the following put in:
    Bullseye Power T04B 50-trim turbo
    Treadstone intercooler
Custom made intercooler piping (60mm in, 70mm out)
    All belts replaced
    Autometer oil pressure gauge

Got some 750cc injectors to go in on Saturday and then take it onto the road. Have only got the boost at 1.0 bar at the moment and it pulls hard. Hopefully I'll be able to get it up to 1.5 bar of boost which should get my wheel horsepower figures into the high 300hp range and my 1/4 mile times into the 11s range. Will report back with tuning results over the weekend

  • oki81 says: I'm famous!
Or rather, my car is semi-famous. Am happy to report that my car is featured in the September issue’s Readers Rides section of US import/performance car magazine, Super Street. I get a copy of this magazine every so often whenever one of a few car friends of mine is about to throw it away. I sent a picture and a mini-profile of my car in a month or 2 ago for the hell of it. Was very surprised to find they actually printed it!

It’s hardly bringing me fame, fortune and infinite happiness, but it did make my day!

  • oki81 says: Me at the HKS Drags: Okinawa
Here's a video my friend made of me from the HKS Drags in Okinawa back at the end of April this year. That day I ran a 7.032s for the 150m course Okinawa quite pathetically doesn't even have a 1/4 mile (or 400m) drag strip. Am hoping that the changes I have planned for this summer (including new intercooler and turbo) will get me into the 6s frame.

For the record, I've been recorded at 12.22s at 183kmh for the 1/4 mile. Again, I am hoping to be in the 11s come September.

Just a crappy cell phone video snap from last Friday night; It's not about the visual impression - but the incredible sound of this amazing Porsche 911 GT3 RS - yay~ Turn up the volume and enjoy crazy German engineering !!!! (in da house).

W221: From here, the world looks ALWAYS great

Just relax and follow the star. I made this photo for an advertising featuring mobile digital TV (DVB-T) / DVD / iPod etc. (whilst the car is on the move !!!) on the original navigation screen.

*note: viewing not allowed for the driver - only the passenger may watch - hahaha ;)

Photo and Photoshop post process by me. picture on the screen is no fake, but an actual music video from a rock concert // video source: iPod.

  • oki81 says: HKS Drags in Okinawa
Well, the HKS Drag meeting in Okinawa has been scheduled for March 18th. It's a Tuesday, but luckily is a free day for me so I'm going to take the day off work and enter the Evo. I sincerely doubt I'll win anything but it will be fun to compete.
