mmm...
I find the works of Araki very interesting but I especially take a fancy to his more urban photography [couldn't think of any other way to describe it because I'm speechless whenever I am confronted with the images] which I find extremely enchanting!
I have managed to grab a copy of 東京夏物語 / 'Tokyo Summer Story' and 'Subway Love'... every time I pick them up the books don't touch the shelf again for at least 2 hours!!
The compositions / the timing / the atmosphere / the people / the realness, is always there.
Maybe I liken to these series more as I have been brought up in a metropolis and perhaps also as I can only experience Japan as a foreigner? -
Wow! www.amazone.com Thanks a lot !
This is one of my favarite movie!
Though this package is too cheap^^
(Please compare it with the one of Japan.)
The artistry of this movie is very high.
The Japanese title is "愛の新世界 Ai No Shinsekai",
Original is Araki's photography book name .
Araki just can not be ignored in this movie.
His work not only was used , but also he acted himself and took a shot of actress Sawa.
This movie might not have been able to be made without his influence. In such a meaning, this movie work is collaboration of the director Banmei Takahashi and Araki.
Sawa Suzuki was new face at that time.
Other casting :
Theatrical company 大人計画Otona-Keikaku(松尾スズキMatuo Suzuki、宮藤官九郎 Kudokan、阿部サダヲ Abe Sadawo)
For recent years they became very famous actors in Japan

I can't find his books anywhere either, anyone know where to get them? I was actually in Portland last month and even Powell's didn't have any!

Me too. I'd just like to know where I can find books featuring his work. It sounds like they're pretty expensive.

There was a lovely exhibition "À LA VIE LA MORT" of his works some time ago in Charleroi, Belgium - and amazingly this exhibition was still able to provoke people (yay~ !)
Here is a photo that I made: People threw paint balls on the main poster of the exhibition building (Museum of Photography) xD.
