What's "Art Cube"?
Art Cube is inspired by the minimalist primary structures and it's stress on the use industrially manufactured materials. Art Cube departs from the minimalist principle that proposes that the artist should be removed as much as possible from the artwork. On the contrary, Art Cube challenges artists to fill these building blocks with art.
For this exhibition, the starting point is an industrially manufactured clear plastic cube, measuring 10cm by 10cm by 10cm. This small box is the primary element shared by all participating artists. It is also the unifying thread of the show, as well as one of its main challenges. Artists are free to use the cubes, the spaces within them and their surfaces to answer the question: What is art?
The primary condition of this show is that the artwork must fit inside the cube's dimensions. Art Cube challenges artists to think "inside the box", literally, something perhaps at odds with the freedom and contemporary conventions of artistic expression. Each artist has a minimum of 5 cubes to answer the question as they wish.
Art Cube is an original group exhibition organized and curated by SoHo Art Gallery, and seeks to promote and encourage conceptual and critical thinking in artistic expression.
“Art Cube” Rules:
① All works must fit inside a box 10-cm by 10-cm by 10-cm.
② No toxic or hazardous materials are to be used.
③ Registration deadlines: 9/15th to 11/15th, 2008.
④ Entry fee: ¥3,500 per artist (includes a pack of five clear plastic boxes)
⑤ A minimum of 5 cubes per artist to be submitted.
⑥ Additional box sets can be purchased from SoHo at ¥2000 per set of 5.
⑦ All media welcome as long as it conforms to the cube’s dimensions.
⑧ Entry open to artists of all fields, anywhere in the world.
⑨ Cubes to be submitted between December 5th and 10th, 2008.
⑩ All fees payable at SoHo. Call or email for alternative arrangements.

SoHoオリジナル企画第二回アートキューブ展 What is art ? 公募展を12月16日〜21日の6日間、開催します！！
アートキューブとは、一辺が10cm ❒ 立方体のクリスタルbox (5個セット)、この中に独自のアート作品を表現する、boxの使用は5個以下でも可です、小さな箱の中にたくさんのアイデアを考えて、挑戦する事はきっといつか、あなたの今後の作品に影響を与え、役立つと信じています。
この企画は昨年とても好評で今年も皆さんに楽しんで頂けると思います、アートとは何かを考えて頂くのがこの企画の.主旨で、作品の完成度を競うものではなく、ジャンルは問いません、どなたでも参加できます。
参加者全員の作品を展示させて頂きます。
(まれに迷惑行為にあたると思われる作品に関しましては、ご辞退して頂く事もありますのでご了承下さい)
この展示中の(土)には、多くのアーテイスト達が語り合える為のパーテイも企画しておりますので、どしどしご参加お待ちしています。
会期 2008年 12月16日(火) - 12月21日(日)
時間 pm12:00 - pm19:00 最終日はpm17:00迄
申込み方法 直接こちらで申込み用紙に記入、またはfax, eメールでも受付ます、但し参加費用とクリスタルboxは引き換えとなりますので、諸事情に関しましてはお問い合わせ下さい。
参加費用 三千五百円 (クリスタルbox５個セット込み)
申込み受付期間 9月16日(火) - 11月11日(火)締め切り
搬入 12月5日(金) - 12月10日(水)(月)定休日除く
搬出 会期後、一週間以内に随時お願いします。
