Description
Anyone into Cider (or not!) . Generally there are only two British Ciders on tap in Japan, Blackthorn Cider & more recently Strongbow & also some bottled brands.
Where do you drink this wonderfully tasty beverage & what do you think of it?? Any interesting, fun or not so fun experiences??

There are many worlds of cider. Cider in the US is just apple juice (no alcohol). Cider in Japan seems to mostly be a fizzy soft drink - again, no alcohol.
But yeah, the stuff that knocks ya over is the best!

Fell downstairs a few weeks ago (stairs at home)... had had a few ciders mind you... about 10 pints!! It was my mates birthday & you know how it gets............
Anyway, really did my leg in, but didn't have any recollection the next morning. My brother told me I'd taken a tumble down the old apples an pears. A couple of days later the pain & swelling arrived. Couldn't walk for five days. Don't like doctors so didn't see one. Got a bit of a limp still, but no long term damage I hope.
This is the first time I've ever fallen down any stairs by the way.

I like a nice pint of cider and living just twelve or so miles from Much Marcle, am well placed in ciderland at the moment. However, three weeks and we are in Tokyo full time so looking forward to finding a nice pint of the amber nectar locally there.

Hmm. The only time I've ever fallen asleep in an actual ditch (as opposed to other embarrassing places I've fallen down drunk in) was after drinking cider at lunchtime in an old village pub near Frome, Somerset. The trouble is that it slips down so nicely on a hot afternoon that you don't realise how quickly it's disconnecting all the wires in your brain.

Not so many Cider fans out there then?? That's rather disappointing!!!
I've had so many nights out and wake up with no memory of what the f@ck happened the night before. Thought that was pretty common over here. Maybe so, just not on cider.
Oh by the way; for those of you not in the know, CIDER is a strong apple tasting alcahol. Very easy to drink, but gets you pissed in no time & you do things you don't usually do.
As Tony the tiger says "iiiiiiit's great!!!!"

It can be dry (brut), a little sweet (demi-sec) or sweet (doux). the alcohol level will go down with the sweetness; from ~ 5% for dry to ~2% for sweet ones.
Most of them are made by adding carbon (CO2) in, like carbonated drinks, and are sold mearly exclusively in bottles.
My favorite one is Domaine des Cinq Autels in Normandy:

Very natural and hand made from his own orchard of different old types of apples that are best suited for making cidre (opposed to the one you eat).
