Description
The Gaelic "usquebaugh", meaning "Water of Life", phonetically became "usky" and then "whisky" in English. However it is known, Scotch Whisky, Scotch or Whisky (as opposed to whiskey), it has captivated a global market.

I was listening to some Mamas and Papas, Louis Armstrong, Billie Holliday, Blues Brothers and John Lee Hooker ... the laid back old style of music really fits whisky :)

When I was 15 years old, my parents saw it fit to introduce me to alcohol - in a limited way naturally. Though, having a set of parents who mostly enjoy red wine, whisky and cognac, I was at a very young age exposed to this golden elixir
Lots of people are quite fanatic about this topic, talking about single malts, single single malts and which barrels from which distilleries are better than other - I though, have a more relaxed take on whisky and feel that I don't really care where it's from or how many years it aged in which cask, that was burnt or preused for what substance... Neither do I mind blends... So maybe many would think of me as an infidel in this topic
I have for a long time planned to have a collection of whiskies that I like, I have come across many great ones in my time, and also some more crappy ones that was more suited for cooking than enjoying.
Today I bought the first one of my new collection, I plan to buy a new addition to it every two weeks or so. I went 'safe' with the Bowmore Islay Single Malt aged 12 years. I plan on adding an Irish Bushmill's soon, maybe the smooth Dalwhinnie or even the 21 year old Royal Salute from Chivas Regal. Mmmm, I need somewhere to put them, and need some nice Riedel glasses for them ... ahh, all in good time, all in good time .....
