Rugby League

Public

Description

This is a group to celebrate what I personally believe to be the best sport in the world - rugby league. A 13-man team sport, it can be one of the most exciting and hard-hitting sports around.

Well, only 9 hours until the first full weekend of the new rugby league season in England. Which means weekends of getting up at 4 or 5am and listening to games on the radio is going to start again. Fun times, and hoping for some hits like you can see here:

Well, it's only a friendly match, but Wigan kick off their season in a little over 3 hours against Warrington at the HJ Stadium. There will be a minute of applause to celebrate Mike Gregory (former Warrington & GB great, and Wigan coach) and then a chance for both sets of supporters to check out their new signings before the league starts in a few weeks' time.

So I'll be up until late into the night listening to commentary on the radio. Hopefully with a catalyst like Trent Barrett (pictured, right), Wigan will be challenging for honours this season.

Best game in the world other than Football.
Best game in League to watch Queensland Vs New South Wales.
I can't wait, this Wednesday night.
Matty Bowen is playing for QLD. It's gonna be exciting, with him playing with Darren Lockyer (Legend), Johnathon Thurston, Greg Inglis (freak) & Carmichael Hunt (tough MF) there's gonna be big scoreline. Hopefully everything clicks in gear.

Some of you are probably still unsure about what rugby is. This sport is all about collision, and this video shows some of the best collisions I've seen in recent years.

... and the biggest derby in the rugby league calendar: Wigan vs St Helens. This game will be played in front of a sell-out crowd at the JJB stadium in Wigan, and should be a cracker. The form of both teams is completely irrelevant in these derbies as both teams have shown that they can beat the other over the past few seasons. Both teams look to be at close to full strength and I have no idea at all who will come out on top. I'll be cheering on Wigan as I have done for the past 13 years, but as much as I dislike St Helens, my cousin plays for them so I want him to have a good game, but the rest of them to have shockers!
