Description

I just had to start a group about "The King of Cool". Of course there are many people here too young to remember the legendary actor, race car driver and motorcyle racer. We all know how cool Clint Eastwood, Sean Connery, Charles Bronson and others were but nobody on Planet earth was as cool as Steve McQueen. When I was a kid he was not only my favorite actor but everybody's favorite and seemed to appeal to all age groups. In 1968 they took a poll and teenagers voted Steve McQueen the coolest man on Earth. He was politically conservative, 40 years old at the time, in the 1960's when everyone was liberal and they still knew he was the coolest. Anybody out there who remembers Steve McQueen please join our group and pay tribute to a legend. When I was young I wanted to be Steve McQueen. He died long before his time. He died in 1980 at the age of 50. When he died I have to admit that I cried because one of my childhood heroes was dead. His birthday is coming up on March 24th so I wanted to pay tribute to him by starting this group. The picture above is him as Lieutenant Frank Bullitt in the movie titled "Bullitt"

  • Sorry mate. But I really don't dig any of the other groups you invited me to. Now this guy was cool but I don't want to clutter my page with heaps of groups. Will consider it though.

Had Steve McQueen still been alive today would have been his 77th Birthday. rest in peace Steve. I was driving my Japanese friend around San Francisco the other day and passed the house where Steve McQueen lived in the movie "Bullitt". That movie was filmed in 1968 in San Francisco. I attached a picture of the house as it looks today. Attached is a link to a website that shows filming locations for the movie "Bullitt" in 1968 and in 1999. Some have changed dramatically and others are very much the same.
