Has anybody been to see Daft Punks movie 'Electroma' yet?
I'd be curious to know what other people made of it.
I went to watch it last night at a small independent cinema that is currently operating out of an old victorian city hall building and was showing the movie for one night only.
(I am on holiday in England BTW)
It was set in California and had the Daft Punk duo drive to a local town where everybody else was a robot too. Obviously sick of being robots they go and get plastic human faces, much to the shock of the other robots in the town. Unfortunately, in the California heat the plasic does not hold-out for very long and the duo have to flee.
The movie was definately not for everybody, with no dialogue and lots of long drawn-out scenes where not a lot was actually happening. I noticed a few people even got up and left half-way through.
I didn't really mind, as I had already anticiapted it would be shot in that 'European art-house' style and to be fair some of the cinematography was beautifully done - just stretched out a little too long.

Hey there!
A friend of mine introduced me to Daft Punk about a year ago, and I really love their sound. I only have Discovery and Daft Club, since those were the only two at the CD store at the time, lol. Discovery is great to keep in the car, since it helps me with long drives ^_^. I'm also really into DDR/Stepmania, if anyone knows about that, and I've been thinking of making some stepfiles for a couple of Daft Punk songs. -
I just like "Homework" album cover,,,, but if u have favorite one,pls up-load here!! Let's share our hobby!!

haha i hate to capitalize on the new group... but you really hit a nerve kohey. =) daft punk hits home to me in both my own production, detroit music, and hip hop.
have you heard this story? jay dee (aka j dilla [rip]), from detroit, is speculated as being the greatest hip hop producer ever... but early in his career he had a run in with Daft Punk. apparently he found a bootleg (quite possibly white label) 12" that contained Thomas Bangalter's "Extra Dry". he sampled it, and it became one of the two singles from Fantastic Vol. 2 (Slum Village's second album). he thought it was something obscure, but apparently Daft Punk were Slum Village fans. but when they found out about it, they didnt demand $$$, instead they asked jay dee/slum village to collaborate with them on an Aerodynamic remix. (check the whole story @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raise_It_Up )
heres the video for the slum village song, "Raise it Up":
