A humanoid mammoth monster concept. This was done just for fun and with no use of rulers or measurement devices. I didn't want to feel too confined to rules of precision.

This picture was done with the idea that the protagonist is changing into a monster. With that, I want to show him trying to hold the transformation back with his other hand. I wanted to show him with a worried look on his face. The suspense is that we don't know if it'll help or how it happened to him.

This is a drawing I did of a Japanese monster I got from a children's book about Japanese ghosts & monsters. I can't remember the name of the creature, so if anyone knows, tell me please.

This is an alien character I drew a many years back in my Dragon Ball days. You can tell by the costume design. I practiced foreshortening to make it a more interesting pose.

I've been enjoying drawing monsters the past couple of years. They may seem odd or scary to some, but actual for the artist, they are so free!!! They have no limitation on originality. The creative mind can fly!!! No restrictions on form like a regular human body. The rules are thrown out the window for the crokus to soar!!! (couldn't help myself for writing that :))

I like this monster I made cuz its stance and glance are sinister!

"Sinister" is an interesting word etymologically. It's from Latin meaning "left" but now means "something evil". It's partially based on discriminating beliefs (that still exist today) on left and right hands.

The left hand is/was considered bad and the right hand good (in certain countries its insultingly rude to shake hands with the left hand).

In Latin, "dexter" mean, "right" and represents the right hand. "Dexterous" or "dexterity" signify "great skill with hands".

So, lefties are wicked folks with no skill. I'm a lefty, so I'm in trouble :)

This picture was originally made for last years Yomiuri Shinbun's International Cartoon Contest (no longer running). I won nothing perhaps because it was a bit on the morbid side. The theme for the contest was "teeth". I thought it would be funny to humanize a vampire with regular folk's problems with age. I even tried to give the girl a look of bewilderment. Not certain how successful it was.
